View from Campsite at Holbrook Park
My trip heading to Holbrook Park was delayed by a really strong thunderstorm that hit just before I left Davis Bayou. I ended up spending about an hour waiting in the parking lot at the visitor center while I waited for the storm to pass by. Once the weather cleared though, it was a nice trip. I stopped for lunch at the Atchafalaya Welcome Center in Louisiana and they had an several exhibits inside, including interesting animatronic display set up.
My stop at this campground was just for one night, but it would have been worthwhile to stay a little longer. My campsite was right on the lake, and just a short walk to the river on the other side of the park. The campground was quiet and well off the beaten path, and the internet access was good with T Mobile. This was a nice spot; I’d definitely stay here again if I was in the area.
Overnight another thunderstorm moved in. This one knocked out power at the park, but it didn’t really affect me too much since I was heading out anyway. I had to use my percolator to make my morning coffee, but other than that it was no inconvenience at all.
