Oscar Scherer State Park–Osprey, FL

We stayed at site #15, which is right on the shore of South Creek in the northern portion of the campground.  The sites here are not too close together and have plenty of vegetation between them.  The sites are also set back from the road with vegetation at the entrances that also makes the sites feel more private.

The first thing that impressed me about this park was the active programs.  The night that we checked in, they had movie night at the Nature Center by Lake Osprey, and the following night was a guided nigh time kayak tour.  The center by the lake also has free wifi for visitors.

Old tracks by Legacy Trail-1The campground is very close to the Legacy Trail, which attracts bicyclists from all over the area.  The Legacy Trail a paved section of an unused railroad that is about 20 miles long.

This park has several hiking trails, kayaking (with rentals available), and several geocaches to search for.  There is a lot to do; we had a great visit.
